Services Offered

PLEASE NOTE: All visits are currently being conducted via telehealth.

At Peace of Mind Wellness, we provide services that include comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication review and management, pharmacogenomic testing, consultations, second opinions, and supportive psychotherapy.

Medication Management

Medications can play a role in improving various mental health symptoms and disorders. Medication is often recommended when your symptoms become moderate to severe, or when symptoms have not improved with therapy alone. The service includes consultation, education, and monitoring. We are currently treating children, adolescents, and adults using evidence-based treatment.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, can help to control or eliminate troubling symptoms so that a person can function better. and promote well-being and healing. Psychotherapy is indicated if you have difficulty coping with daily life, trauma, loss or grief, or mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. There are several types of psychotherapy and some types may work better with certain problems or issues.

Mental Health and Wellness

Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps to determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices in our lives. Mental health problems can affect your thinking, mood, and behavior. Many factors contribute to mental health problems including biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry, life experiences, such as trauma or abuse and family history of mental health problems. Wellness is an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more happy and successful existence. We can strengthen our mental health and wellness by utilizing psychotherapy, psychotropic medications, self-management strategies and complementary health approaches.

GeneSight Psychotropic Testing

GeneSight is a pharmacogenomic test that analyzes clinically important genetic variations in your DNA. Pharmacogenomics uses information about a person’s genetic makeup, or genome, to choose the drugs and doses that are likely to work best for that individual. This also can predict how fast or slow a person can metabolize a medication, as well as the likelihood of them having side effects. By using this test, we can determine which medications are genetically optimal for each individual, leading to increased response times and reducing the amount of medication trials needed.

MTHFR gene mutation testing is also available with GeneSight testing. MTHFR is the gene that is responsible for converting folic acid and dietary folate into its most active form. I-methylfolate. When a person has reduced activity of the MTHFR gene, they are not converting "methylating" appropriately, which can lead to symptoms of anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances. The test is a simple cheek swab that can be sent to your home by your provider. GeneSight testing is typically offered at your intake appointment.
